Regulators hockey logo

Last year I decided that I needed a hobby. The hobby I chose: ice hockey. Now it turns out I may have a slight addiction. I play a couple of nights a week, and look for drop-in opportunities whenever I can find them. At the start of last year’s MCHL winter season, I was surprised to be drafted by my older brother, who was one of the league’s captains. I figured that it was the perfect opportunity to combine my two passions and develop a logo for the team. We spent some time deciding on the perfect team name and landed on the “Regulators.”

Drawing inspiration from the movie Young Guns and its famous quote, “Regulators, mount up,” I decided that the logo needed to be western-themed. I researched several western movies and sketched what would become the final logo by combining several images. I also developed a custom font for the logotype. Unfortunately, the only place we ended up being able to use the logo was our helmet stickers (provided by the good people at SignIt).

My first season turned out to be a memorable one: we won the championship in a very dramatic fashion to a far superior team. With Warren G’s Regulate playing over the loudspeakers, the trophy presentation was straight out of a Disney movie. The new season starts next week, and I’ll be playing on a new team with a new name, and that’ll mean another new team logo. Check back soon to see next season’s logo.

I think you’re on to something with this logo…
Ice Polo. I’d pay-per-view that.
